Have you ever had problems getting your kids pictures taken at a studio?

My daughter is 2 1/2 and son is 15 months and im taking them to get there pictures done and wondering how well the 15 month old will handle staying in 1 spot long enough to get his pic done with his sister. Have any of you had any problems before?

The studio should be pretty good at distracting them and they are pretty quick to snap the pics as fast as they can. I have actually found if I leave or stand outside the door slightly, they are more likely to focus on the photog and it is easier for them to respond to her/him.

But I must say, I have 3 kids and there is always 1 who isn’t in the mood or doesn’t feel good, is cranky etc. So I try to keep the pressure off and remind myself, it is only a picture, capture a moment in time. If the moment is cranky, then so be it.

  2. The cutest photos are the freestyle ones where your kiddos are doing whatever they want. Do the planned photos really quick first to get a couple in, like the posing and smiling ones. Then ask for toys to be brought in. Have him banging on drums, playing with cars, or rolling around on the set.

    Tips:
    - Have snacks and drinks on hand for the shoots. Non messy things like cheerios and water.
    - Try and get in after nap time and after lunch time when they are well rested and well fed.
    - Go someplace close (like a 5 – 10 minute car ride away) and let them run around / walk around and explore for a couple minutes before.

Have done photos of my daughter at 3 months, 12 months, and 24 months in a photo shoot. The ones where she was doing what SHE wanted were the cutest.

Do your best to get them in after nap and lunch time. Also try to find somewhere close by so they dont have to sit in the car for a long time before pics or get there early and let them run around a little bit before taking photos. If you have a good photographer they will make it as quick and painless as possible.

  4. With our kids we had the photographer come to the house at an appointed time. This way the kids were rested and in their usual surroundings. We always got great pictures.

  5. My son does well he is 2 now .. i try to take him when its not busy because otherwise seeing all the kids and everyone winds him up and makes him run around more. I don’t know how having 2 kids in a picture at once would go. Make sure they aren’t tired or hungry. your daughter might be able to keep him entertained so he will stay still better

  7. You will have to distract your kids to get them laughing or smiling at something. Give this some thought beforehand and come prepared to distract them with something you know makes them smile. A good photographer can help a lot, if he or she is willing to take control, let them, you’ll probably get better results,

Make sure they are well fed and rested, do not overstimulate them or allow your own emotions to show. If you’re counting on a great photoshoot and it’s not going so well, your own disappointment and bad mood can lead your kids to follow suit.
